Application Requirements

Applicants to all graduate degree programs must submit:

Completed application form (Official Application Form)
Official transcripts for all post-secondary colleges or universities
Three letters of recommendation (Official Recommendation Form)
Graduate Record Exam (varies by Department) WPI's Institution Code is 3969
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing Systems (IELTS) - for International students who have not attended a U.S. institution full time for at least one year, or who come from countries where English is not their first language, are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) exam.

If you are required to submit the results of a test of English language proficiency, register to take either the Test of English as a Foreign Language(TOEFL) or International English Language Testing Service (IELTS)
Have the scores sent to WPI (school code: 3969).
The minimum scores for admission are:

TOEFL:213 (computer based test)
550 (paper-based test)
79-80 (internet-based test)

IELTS: 6.5 overall band score with no sub-score lower than 6.0

Note: Higher scores are required for Teaching Assistants.

Otherwise, the student will be required to take English as a Second Language (ESL) prior to beginning Graduate Studies at WPI.

Application fee of $70* (check or money order payable to WPI, or online by credit card)

*Fee is waived for current WPI undergraduates and alumni

Management students should consult with the Graduate Management Office for admission requirements.)
