Welcome to WPI's Graduate Studies Web site created specifically for part-time students! At WPI we understand how busy you are with life outside of school, and that is why we want to simplify the school process as much as possible to help you in that quest for perfect balance. Please take the time to browse through our site.
To accommodate students who work full-time all courses are scheduled either in the late afternoon or evening. The average master's degree is composed of 30-49 credit hours. Most part-time students complete their degrees within three years.

Non-Degree Status
Casual course takers with an earned bachelor's degree may elect to take one or two courses without applying to a degree or certificate program. This is considered non-degree status. Students not yet admitted to a certificate program must be admitted before completion of their second course in order for those courses to count toward the certificate program. Students not yet admitted to a degree program may take a maximum of four courses and receive letter grades in most departments. For specific departmental requirements please check individual department websites. Once these maximums are reached, additional course registrations will be changed to pass/fail and may not be used for degree credit. Registration for graduate courses as a non-degree student does not guarantee admission to a WPI Graduate program.
